edward burtynsky



I like Edwards work because of his use of color and repetition. He also uses leading lines to draw your attention to certain points in the photo, which complement it nicely.
to help the environment try using reusable bags at grocery stores, it reduces a lot of plastic :)

vocab for Aperture

  1. Aperture/F-stop-
    Also called F stop. an opening, usually circular, that limits the quantity of light that can enter an optical instrument or camera.
  2. Aperture Priority-
    a semiautomatic exposure system in which the photographer presets the aperture and the camera selects the shutter speed.
  3. Ambient Light-the light surrounding an environment or subject.
  4. Artificial Light- lighting altered by man or specifically modified to achieve ocular requirements.
  5. ASA/ISO/Film Speed-the sensitivity to light of a photographic film, specified in terms of the film's ISO rating .
  6. Bracket-  shooting the same subject with different aperture settings.
  7. Depth of Field-
    the range of distances along the axis of an optical instrument, usually a camera lens, through which an object will produce a relatively distinct image.

  10. Light Meter-photographic auxiliary device that measures the intensity of light and indicates proper exposure

chuck close pictures





I like Chuck Close's work because of the detail and realizm of it.
 He adds a very human factor to all of his photos, they are imperfect and gritty
 but they show the true sides of people, the raw image.
